The Nanzuka Gallery x Star Wars x adidas Collection Embraces the Dark Side

The longstanding partnership between the Star Wars franchise and adidas has birthed a large collection of models that have satiated the appetite of sneaker nerds and Star Wars fanatics alike. May the 4th aka Star Wars Day is fast approaching, and this duo is celebrating with another Superstar – this time in partnership with the Tokyo contemporary art gallery Nanzuka.

Most of the Star Wars x adidas collaborative product is usually inspired by a single character; however, this pair has opted to use original sketches by artist Hiroki Tsukuda. These drawings adorn the upper and feature legendary robots, R2-D2 and C-3PO in black and white. For this pair, adidas have opted for a muted palette further accentuated by the yellowed Shell Toe and adidas XLG midsole. For materials, the upper has been crafted using a synthetic leather with textile lining and usual rubberised outsole.

The Star Wars x Nanzuka x adidas Superstar XLG has landed in select regions on the adidas webstore. A wider release hasn’t been announced just yet, but could arrive to celebrate May 4.
