Stussy and Dr. Martens Reunite for Workwear-Inspired 939 Boot
may have been born in the surf of Laguna Beach, but rugged workwear has also informed a large part of the brand’s aesthetic. As such, their regular collaborative partnership with Dr. Martens makes a lot of symbiotic sense, as the heritage British shoemakers have long been outfitters of all hardworking industries. For their latest collaboration, they've revived DM’s 939 boot, a modified version of the OG 6-Eye model that’s received a blue-collar makeover.
From a distance, the 939 certainly does look like the standard 1460, but the devil's in the details. One of the most telling differences is the padded ankle collar that is a mainstay in classic workwear boots, compared to the standard unlined variety. The hairy tan suede and yellow-laced colourway is a bit of a conspicuous nod to an iconic blue-collar design, but the smooth black-on-black leather option is signature Dr. Martens through and through. On the underside, DM spec the BEN sole, which features a commando-style tread, providing reliable grip to the cushioned AirWair tech sandwiched in between. Bespoke colourways aside, Stussy’s effort is called out via lateral ankle stamping and custom woven tongue labels.
The Stussy x Dr. Martens 939 collaboration will be available from Stussy, Dr. Martens and Dover Street Market from November 12.
