Supreme and Vans’ Summer 2022 Colab Brings Nate Lowman’s Artwork to the Skate Grosso Mid
and boast a rich collaborative history that goes all the way back to 1996 and the latest chapter in their partnership is a three-pack of takes on the Skate Grosso Mid, each of which is adorned with artist Nate Lowman's signature bullet hole motif. It's a pattern that's familiar to any Supreme stan, as Lowman created a special box logo for the opening of the brand's Shibuya store in 2012 and repurposed the graphic for an extensive collection of apparel earlier this year.
The trio of Skate Grosso Mids arrives in a bright red, a muted cream and a stark black. Each also uses different-coloured bullet hole graphics, with the red pair opting for a blue-green shade, the cream pair equipping both bronze and pink accents and the black pair choosing simple silver. Lowman has been using bullet hole graphics in his artwork since debuting them in The End. And Other American Pastimes, his first solo show in 2005. The idea sprung from a car decal sticker he spotted at a Texas gas station, which he screen-printed onto canvas to explore the way 'you could attach violent content onto a very peaceful surface,' in his own words.
From a performance standpoint, the Skate Grosso Mid – a modified take on the Sk8 Mid originally designed to commemorate the late Jeff Grosso – features PopCush sockliners, Duracap underlays and updated uppers to ensure it can withstand the demands of even the most gruelling skate session.
Expect the Supreme x Nate Lowman x Vans Grosso Skate Mid collection to release in the US and Europe on July 7, then hit Japan on July 9. It'll be available on both the brand's webstore and at its flagship retail locations.
