The Ultimate Crossover: Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton Reunite

Available in a sleek black and a crisp white, both editions showcase Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram but reimagined through Murakami’s vibrant, pop-art-inspired lens. Each pair of Louis Vuitton trainers will also feature subtle co-branding, including the inscription ‘Louis Vuitton x Murakami’ on the insoles.
Originally designed by the late for Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the LV Trainer showcases full-grain calf leather construction. The sneakers are adorned with signature details, including the number 54 on the heel – a nod to the brand’s founding year, 1854 – and the iconic Damier print. As part of the collection, Louis Vuitton will also be releasing several other iconic designs, including a wide selection of handbags and trunks.
Under the direction of Marc Jacobs, Murakami and Louis Vuitton teamed up in 2003 and helped redefine the intersection of pop art and luxury fashion. Later , Marc Jacobs reflected on the collaboration: ‘Our work together has been a tremendous influence and inspiration to so many. It’s a monumental marriage of art and commerce – the ultimate crossover for both fashion and art history.’
The LV Trainer is priced at $1,660 and is available now for pre-order through Louis Vuitton Client Advisors, with a wider release scheduled for early 2025.
