Takashi Murakami Launches Own Footwear Brand: Ohana Hatake
One of the sneaker and streetwear scene’s most prolific cultural collaborators, , has announced that he has started his own independent footwear brand. The artist, who’s known for bridging the gaps between art and streetwear through his collaborations with , and , is also set to drop two colourways of his Full Bloom Slide in line with his brand launch, with raffles for the two pairs open now.
Murakami has been dabbling with the footwear realm over the past couple of years, recently working with Nike on their project back in 2023 when the duo dropped a collection of . Earlier today, he took to the ‘Gram to reveal the Ohana Hatake brand – a project that reflects the artist’s legacy and quirky ideas. Having worked with a team of experts on each model and colourway, the brand will include subtler Slide silhouettes like the upcoming Surripa Ohana alongside the budding Full Bloom model, but Murakami’s signature flower shape is all over the label’s first drop.
The Full Bloom Slide will initially be touching down in the pink-toned ‘Raspberry’ and orange-hued ‘Apricot’, though there are plenty of colourways lined up for both models as indicated by the promo images. Raffles for the two pairs are open now, with select retailer launches lined up for December and wider drops planned for 2025. Stay tuned for more info as it comes in!
