Become a Forest Bather in This Tarvas x Engineered Garments Colab
Finnish footwear brand have been carving out a niche with their debut explorer model for about five years. Now, they’re introducing their next design and launching it in conjunction with their previous partner, .
Dubbed the Forest Bather, the peculiar name becomes comprehensible once its ethos is explained. The term is derived from ‘shinrin-yoku’, a term coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982, which encourages ‘absorbing the forest atmosphere’ and almost literally ‘forest bathing’. Given Engineered Garments’ Japanese links and design ethos, this is an appropriate brand partner to help launch the new silhouette.
EG apply their signature tonal touches and textural smorgasbord across three monochromatic colourways of navy, brown and black. They went to town on the materials, specifying faux fur on the vamp, offset by durable and weather-resistant mudguards. There’s an integrated reflective lacing system among the fuzzy stuff, and lugged outsoles are another practical touch. Stamped leather insoles signify the partnership.
The Engineered Garments x Tarvas Forest Bather is available now from Nepenthes NY.
