The ASICS GEL-1130 Glistens in ‘Pure Gold’
The running catalogue can occasionally be a confusing cornucopia of model numbers paired to the word GEL in all-caps. Only the brand’s product line managers and the most devoted followers of GEL genealogy seem to understand this cryptic system. For everyone else, just know that GEL and numbers combo usually equals good shoes. Such as the GEL-1130, which has been revived here by ASICS in OG-ish shades of ‘Pure Gold’.
The GEL-1130 is a bit of an ASICS obscurity, having first debuted circa 2008 as a budget alternative to the flagship GEL-Kayano line. As fashion vanguard has been consulting closely with ASICS, perhaps it’s not so surprising to see a deeper cut get retrieved from the archive. And for its first act, the GEL-1130 returns in a mixture of white mesh and ‘Pure Gold’ synthetic overlays, per the style of the brand’s performance runners. Healthy doses of black on the lining and Tiger Stripes add even more contrast. While a dab of eponymous GEL in the heel earns this model its codified name. In keeping with the model’s economical ethos, the new version is comfortably priced in the two-figure range.
The ASICS GEL-1130 ‘Pure Gold’ will release on August 27 via retailers including sivasdescalzo, who will also be carrying an all-white version.
