The BAPE and adidas Superstar Recalls Their First-Ever Colab
and are rolling out more collaborations, following the clean white and black edition, and the crazy mixed camo release. The next drop is rendered in BAPE’s idiosyncratic ABC green camo, which bears a passing resemblance to one of the Japanese streetwear brand’s earliest colabs with the Three Stripes.
BAPE and adidas first collaborated back in 2003 on the Superstar, which went down as one of the most pivotal moments in the golden era of the streetwear and sneaker crossover. It used a similar iteration of BAPE camo atop the iconic Shelltoe design, and was very rare. When was the last time a pair emerged in the secondary market?
Thankfully, this new collaboration channels those similar aesthetic vibes without the same level of scarcity. The darker green ABC camo provides the backdrop for contrast white stripe and STA branding across the medial and lateral sides, while some luxe gold comes through on the tongue label and BAPE branded dubrae. Some elements are purposely aged, such as the cream vintage sole, which will develop nice patina over time – assuming these sneakers get worn.
The BAPE x adidas Superstar will release at BAPE stores and global boutiques such as END. Clothing on May 7.
