The BEAMS x Reebok Club C Laceless Mule Exemplifies Casual Cool

BEAMS have worked with Reebok on collaborative sneakers for quite a number of years now, and the Japanese retailer’s latest build is the most effortless experience yet – quite literally, as their decision to feature the Club C Laceless Mule means hands-free operation.

BEAMS have remixed plenty of Reebok’s classics before, but perhaps not as dramatically as this. For one, they’ve completely removed the laces – questioning the status quo of shoe design – and also completely cut out the heel counter, turning the heritage tennis shoe into a very on-trend mule.

These significant modifications then necessitate some other practical considerations. A wide elastic gusset attached to the sides of the tongue help with fit, while the insole and upper are both lined with terry cloth for more comfort when wearing these mules sans socks.

Despite the all-white leather and rubber appearance here, BEAMS do add some personalised touches. Their brand name is replicated in Reebok’s retro font on the woven tongue label, and their standard sans serif font is printed onto the footbeds. Some of the personalisation is also passed onto the wearer via swappable midfoot ‘window’ tags, some of which can be written on.

The BEAMS x Reebok Club C Laceless Mule will be first available from BEAMS on September 25, followed by a wider release at select retailers and Reebok direct on October 1.
