Contextually, the 99x series was always designed with performance as its priority. Quality materials and construction came as standard. However, the is arguably the first in the series that was introduced in the middle of the collectable sneaker boom.

Burgundy seems quite far removed from NB’s usual grey and navy tones, but given how popular the silhouette is at the moment for collaborations, it makes sense. Suede, mesh and ENCAP: the hallmarks of an excellent New Balance sneaker. And, it’s made in the USA too.
