The New Balance 1400 Soaks Up the Suede
Don’t stay sleeping on the . Sneakerheads over in Japan are wide awake to the existence of the cult model, which generally tends to be favoured in either the Far East or at stores. It’s the urban metropolis of Japan’s cities that this new colourway will be likely found, as they’ve just hit one of the country’s foremost retailers.
The NB 1400 released in 1994 and quickly became desired by the fledgling international sneaker community for its exclusivity and pilgrimage pre-requisites en route to copping. Over the years, colourways have typically been tasteful rather than garish, opting for all-suede uppers that are some of the best in the business. This light grey edition, which has been in regular circulation over the years, remains largely unchanged from its previous releases. Tonal grey N branding and reflective heel tabs add a bit of depth, as does the contrasting smooth tongue and white midsole. This midsole contains both ENCAP and C-CAP, two of NB’s premier cushioning technologies of the era, which is still admirably comfortable today. It’s to be worn to be believed.
This New Balance 1400 returns to atmos on June 5, and expect global distribution to hit not long after.
