The New Balance M1300JPV Made in Japan is a Superlative Sneaker
One of the sleeper retros of 2020 has been the in its JP configuration that uses its original ENCAP midsole unit and a slightly different upper pattern. This year saw an even of the OG colourway via NB’s Made in Japan sub-division that was made possible by a partnership with shoemaking experts M.Lab. Now there’s another extravagant edition releasing soon to take luxury leather to a new level.
Nobody but the most ardent retro runners actually do physical activity in 1300s. NB are aware of this fact, hence all of the collaborations and somewhat impractical material specifications over the course of the former flagship’s retro run. So, to see a superlative edition of the 1300 in uppers completely made from vegetable tanned (aka vachetta – probably what the V in the M1300JPV refers to) leather is only to be expected, especially considering it’ll likely reprise the $600-plus pricetag. It’s all worth it though: cedar shoe trees, fancy sliding shoebox, waxed laces, and aforementioned Made in Japan hand construction come as standard on these very non-standard sneakers.
For Japan-based customers, raffle entries for the M1300JPV have closed ahead of its December 19 release. However, there may be a tiny allocation available for a handful of global boutiques.
