The Nike ACG Air Nasu 2 Ascends All Terrain
second generation is an evolution rather than a revolution of off-road footwear, but there are enough tweaks to maintain the brand’s momentum ever since its revival a few years ago. After first previewing a straightforward grey colourway the other week, retailers have started receiving stock of additional palettes for consideration ahead of their launch.
The debut editions of the ACG Air Nasu 2 eschew the liner of the predecessor, but its off-road intentions mean a baseline level of weather resistance is inherent by design. This is achieved by a sturdy combination of lightweight, semi-translucent ripstop mesh uppers, bonded together by opaque synthetic panelling running from the toe bumper, mudguard and heel counter.
Meanwhile, the midsole and outsole have been mostly retained from the original Air Nasu. A detail previously not immediately obvious is the speckled finish on the midsole – practically an ACG signature for over 30 years now. Another trickle-down feature is the reflective ankle strapping used on the ACG Pocketknife, which wasn’t used on the first Air Nasu.
The Nike ACG Air Nasu 2 is scheduled to release on August 2 from retailers including Asphaltgold, who have previewed the three colourways above: ‘Smoky Mauve’, ‘Grey Fog’ and ‘Black’.
