The Nike Air Force 1 Pays Tribute to Indigo
Beaverton’s current taste for botanical inspiration seems to be flourishing right now, with the the latest to dip its toe into the natural world. Following in the footsteps of the , and the , this AF-1 pays homage to the indigofera tinctoria plant, which is also known as ‘true indigo’.
Like those already-revealed versions of the Blazer Mid and Air Max 90, this release reps its inspiration via an embroidered image of the plant – this time on the tongue. You’ll also spot some scientific details on the heel tabs, including the ‘Part of Use’ and the ‘Habitat’.
Beyond the indigo homages, it’s a neat execution of the Air Force 1. The upper and midsole arrive in a clean white, while the side Swooshes and heel tabs offer contrast in a light blue. Further contrast arrives on the outsole, which initially looks like the beloved ‘Gum’ but, on closer inspection, has more of a cork-like appearance.
Pairs of this indigo-infused Air Force 1 are expected to flower soon, with Nike and selected Swoosh stockists expected to have the drop.
