The Nike Air Max 95 Emerges in Tonal Grey Colourway
The has emerged in a tonal grey colourway, making full use of its signature layered upper. That famous upper also mixes up the materials, as well as the shades of grey, while white hits the midsole, laces and branding for an added touch of contrast. There’s also some neat reflective detailing on the heels and lacing units to keep visibility high when the sun goes down.
As for that legendary layered upper, the inspiration hit Nike designer Sergio Lozano while he was staring out his office window on a rainy Beaverton day in the early 1990s. Lozano started to imagine the falling rain eroding the landscape to unearth the strata below. The idea of previously hidden layers resonated once more when Lozano later considered the anatomy of a foot which, of course, features similarly layered muscle fibres and flesh under the skin. The serendipitous fusion of those two design cues resulted in the famous gradient panels that are now the Air Max 95’s most recognisable feature.
Pairs of this grey Air Max 95 are expected to land soon at Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
