The Nike Air Max 95 is Still Badass
Originally debuting in 1995, Sergio Lozano’s was famously modelled on the human anatomy. Initially hitting shelves as a performance runner, the Air Max 95 later transcended its technically-oriented origins to become a cultural capstone, the silhouette adopted by the likes of Italian gabbers and UK’s grime wave.
With side panels representing muscles, the midsole functioning as the spine, and laces symbolic of the human rib cage, the Air Max 95 is still one of the most extraordinary conceptual sneaker designs in history.
It was also the very first Nike silhouette to feature Air units in the forefoot, with multi-pressured Air units at the heel ensuring that the silhouette offered unprecedented access to Air technology (no other silhouette had packed in this much Air before).
The latest release, a classic black and red rendition, is manufactured with a mix of premium suede and leather.
Look for the Nike Air Max 95 to land over the coming weeks at Nike. Retail is set at $170.
