The Nike Air Max 95 Nails down Some Navy
The is preparing to land in a tonal navy rendition, giving fans of the wavy design a chance to fly under the radar. Dark shades of navy take care of the majority of the release, while reflective grey offers some subtle contrast. Elsewhere, a much lighter shade of blue hits the key branding spots, and lingers inside the visible Air unit. When the sun goes down, those aforementioned reflective touches do their thing.
The iconic design language of the Air Max 95 was inspired way back in the early 1990s on a rainy day in Beaverton. The story goes that Nike designer Sergio Lozano was staring out of his office window in search of inspiration, when he started to imagine the falling rain eroding the landscape to unearth the strata below. The thought of previously hidden layers resonated once more when Sergio was later considering the anatomy of a foot – which features similarly layered muscle fibres and flesh under the skin. The combination of those two design cues delivered the famous gradient panels that dominate the AM95’s signature upper.
Pairs of this navy dominated Nike Air Max 95 are expected to hit Nike and selected stockists very soon.
