The Nike Air Max 97 ‘Safari’ Heads Into the Wild
The supersonic still holds a very special place in the hearts of sneakerheads across the globe. The loving sentiment is especially strong in places like Milan, where the eye-peeling design with the nation’s burgeoning subcultures in the late 90s.
Christian Tresser’s Air Max 97 is now set to celebrate its 25 anniversary next year, so there should be plenty of fanfare from Team Swoosh, including a much-needed of the indelible ‘Silver Bullet’ colourway.
It looks like the party’s getting started a little early for the model, the famous ‘Safari Print’ blasting the uppers with so much wild print it’ll make the Tiger King envious! In terms of material, the patented leather mudguards look to be replaced with a wax-like molded construction. Elsewhere, a blast of red provides more visual hierarchy to the colourway, while 3M reflective laces provide some late night swagger. Down below, a sail midsole and black rubber outsole completes the design.
Look for the Nike Air Max 97 ‘Safari’ to release in the coming months at select retailers and Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at $170.
