birthday gift to is a late entry for best custom of 2017. Given to Mr. Papi for his 31st birthday, the custom in question is an Air Jordan 12 rebuilt with actual Stone Island outerwear.

The ‘rising sun’ pattern has been stitched into a shimmering blue Stoney jacket, denim forms the mudguard, and the jacket’s cuff reappears as the sock-liner. The craftsmanship is impressive enough, but there’s more to it. The custom doesn’t cop out with fake materials to shave cost (a la every ‘Supreme x Louis V’ that merely jacked patterns), and comes with a tongue-in-cheek personal touch. With self-deprecation a keystone of Drake’s brand — and the amount of people who whinge about him ruining Stone Island for ‘true fans’ — we see this gift as both a middle finger to the naysayers and a friendly jab at Drake for riding the label so hard.
