This NERF x Reebok Colab is For 90s Kids
As the 1990s has provided more or less the moodboard and the product for the contemporary sneaker market, there is a persistent question of whether shoes are a form of Peter Pan escapism for those OG 90s kids who are now in their mid-30s and beyond. As such, the new NERF x collaboration is squarely aimed at the grown up kids who helped both the Non-Expanding Recreational Foam company and basketball shoe brand hit it big all those decades ago.
This new pack consists of two editions of the , and high- and low-cut versions of the – which, surprise, surprise, are 90s basketball classics. The Pump Omni Zone 2s take on the livery of the iconic NERF Sports Nerfoop and Big Bad Backboard, both of which are resplendently neon-drenched and complete with glow-in-the-dark bits.
Meanwhile, the Kamikaze 2s interpret NERF’s highlighter bright colours and make use of the model’s jagged panels for some bold colour juxtaposition that’s finished off with some essential overspray detailing. Low-key these sneakers are not. The shoeboxes for this collection can be converted into a doorjamb backboard for bedroom basketball – cool!
Reebok UNLOCKED and Hasbro Pulse members will have early access to the drop on June 24, before a wider release the following day on June 25.
