This Nike Air Max 95 Gets Interesting When the Sun Goes Down
At first glance, this kind of looks like many of the ones that have come before it – neat layered colour-blocking, multiple visible Air units in the midsole, and embroidered branding hits. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the AM95 has long been a favourite silhouette amongst sneakerheads from all over the world. However, this stealthy rendition turns things up another notch when the sun goes down, boasting reflective touches that really bring its colours to life.
Officially dressed in a covert colour combo of black, ‘Game Royal’, ‘University Red’ and ‘Metallic Silver’, wearing these around town will be like permanently having an ace up your sleeve.
The Air Max 95’s iconic design language can be traced all the way back to a rainy day in Beaverton during the early 1990s. Nike designer Sergio Lozano was staring out of his office window in search of inspiration, when he started to imagine the falling rain eroding the landscape to unearth the strata below. That concept of previously hidden layers resonated once more when Sergio later considered the anatomy of a foot – which features similarly layered muscle fibres and flesh under the skin. The combination of those two design cues helps to explain the famous gradient panels that dominate the AM95’s signature upper. As they say, the rest is history.
Pairs of this stealthy Air Max 95 are already available from , while Air fiends wait for news of a wider release.
