Tinker Hatfield Unveils the Jordan React GOAT Running Shoe
recently hit the stage at the WIRED25 Festival in San Francisco to give an insight into the latest running shoe, currently nicknamed the ‘ GOAT’.
Chatting with WIRED editor in chief Scott Dadich, Hatfield revealed the new shoe’s design inspiration, and why it may be the runner of choice for those lacking in athletic prowess.
‘This is a running shoe for people who don’t like to run,’ says Hatfield. ‘… It’s about ready to be commercialised, it has been shown to the sales force, it has been shown to the retailers.’
Aimed at athletes such as 240-pound football linebackers, the Jordan React GOAT is designed to optimise performance for those who aren’t especially fast, or don’t have great form and technique.
Faster sprinters tend to land on their forefoot, while less experience runners are more inclined to land on their heels. To account for this, stabilising structures are built into a black nylon latticework frame around the heel for more stability.
No official name has been dropped as yet, but you can expect a full reveal from Team Swoosh very soon. In the meantime, you can check out Tinker’s unofficial unveiling below:
