Todd Snyder Tricks Out Tasty Trio of New Balance 997 ‘Triborough’ Colabs
New York’s steezy provocateur, , sure loves . Over the years, his penchant for the Made in USA retro running shoes has made him one of the foremost collaborators on silhouettes like the and . It’s the latter that he’s returned to time and time again – lo and behold, here are three new Todd Snyder x New Balance 997s, part of the ‘Triborough’ pack!
The most telling change on these 997s is the substitution of the regular layered N midfoot logo for the ‘flying’ NB variant. In fact, this was used on the OG women’s editions of the 997 back in the very early 90s, so Snyder and/or someone at NB has a healthy dose of reverence for the archive!
Elsewhere, some sublime suede is used all over the uppers – as to be expected of a Todd Snyder colab. One colourway uses light grey and cream to great effect, especially with the perforated toe box in place of usual mesh. Similarly, the dark navy option retains the cream tongue, ankle collar, and laces for a very crisp two-tone presentation. Thirdly, the berry pink is rather tasty and works well with the cream. Each colourway sits atop stark white ENCAP midsoles and thick rubber tread.
Dad shoes? Definitely not. The Todd Snyder x New Balance 997 ‘Triborough’ is releasing very soon on December 22.
