Trinidad Jame$ Releasing New Saucony Jazz ‘Carnival Black’ for Black History Month
Rapper Trinidad Jame$ has a new collaboration releasing soon during Black History Month. This ‘Carnival Black’ edition is a sequel to his Jazz that came out last year via his Hommewrk label, and again is a celebration of his Trinidadian heritage.
The ‘Carnival Black’ follows the same material layout as the ‘Sorrel Red’. This means a mixture of lush suede and leather forms the rear quarter of the Jazz, making way for translucent material to feature on the toe box. This time, tonal black covers the upper, while the toe box is rendered smoky grey. It may appear as a simple colourway, but the glow-in-the-dark outsole and gold tongue branding are subtle pops. As are the multiple lace options that can be swapped in.
Like the ‘Sorrel Red’, the ‘Carnival Black’ does nod to Jame$’ cultural heritage. There’s hidden embroidery behind the tongue, depicting the steelpan instruments played at the Panorama competition during Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival season.
‘Carnival is an homage to rich culture of Trinidad and Tobago,’ said Jame$. ‘The second colour to my collaboration with Saucony is well-timed to launch during Black History Month. A perfect time to celebrate and “Do Your Hommewrk” on another beautiful piece of my country’s history and heritage.’
The Hommewrk x Saucony Jazz 81 ‘Carnival Black’ will release via Hommewrk on February 16, followed by a global launch on February 18.
