And one of their most coveted, game-changing, ultra-rare Jordan Brand linkups may finally receive its anticipated retro. Yes… rumours are once again swirling of an Undefeated x return.

This unicorn AJ4 originally touched down in 2005 as a highly limited release with only 72 pairs created, marking the first-ever Jordan Brand collaboration. Over the past decade, branded linkups from Jordan have been a regular occurrence, but back in 2005, Undefeated became the first boutique to ever do it, with coming through in the years following to be the second. The 72-pair run was made available through an in-store raffle, with a single FSR also available via an online auction. A proper sneaker unicorn, Undefeated’s AJ4 remains one of the most sought-after and hardest-to-find sneakers on the secondary market, with a pair selling at last December for $44,100.

By today’s collaborative sneaker standards, this Air Jordan 4 looks simplistic, but in 2005, its relevance and cultural cache was unparalleled. The OG design chooses a militarised inspiration, looking particularly at the MA-1 Flight jacket. The upper was crafted using an olive nubuck, with orange tongue lining, matching Air unit, three sets of laces, white midsole and black outsole. The original pairs also came with a custom Undefeated case and limited promo t-shirt from the 2005 drop.

Rumours of a retro have fired up again in 2024, with reports coming from a range of sources but beginning with @houseofheat and @eldenmonitors. According to them, you can expect a retro mid-2025 wth a colourway comprised of ‘Deep Green/Clementine/Black/Sail’, which matches the OG colour makeup. So far, we’re expecting a one-to-one retro, but with 20 years since the original dropped, there could be some subtle changes… that is if these rumours are indeed true. It was only two years ago in 2022 when word of an Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 retro was swirling and new samples arrived circa 2017/2018, but both times left sneakerheads in the dust by Jordan Brand.

So, is 2025 the year that Jordan Brand and Undefeated’s plans will finally materialise and the megalithic first-ever Jordan Brand collaboration will receive a retro? Next year marks the 20th anniversary of the original drop, so the timing lines up perfectly.
