Uprise Skateshop Chop Up Their Own Vans Half Cab
Chicago’s Uprise Skateshop are celebrating two anniversaries with their new collaboration: the store turns 25 this year, and the shoe recently celebrated its big 3-0. With the enviable position of having their own colab, Uprise keep the concept simple and pick out a duo of colourways inspired by their hometown.
There were some big sporting achievements by a local basketball team in both 1992 and 1997, the particular milestone years of the collaborators. Without being bullish, the black and red colour schemes are quite telling of the reference material behind Uprise’s colab. One pair goes all black in suede, with subtle red stitching throughout the upper – perfect for skating. While the other pair flips the script and inverts the palette with its all red suede upper and matching soles, but keeps some contrast via the black tongue and laces. Both pairs are finished with Uprise’s logo behind the woven tongue tags, and is also found printed all over the insoles alongside Vans branding. Naturally, being a skate shoe, this collaboration is very much suited for hitting the griptape with ease and durability.
The Uprise Skateshop x Vans Half Cab is scheduled to release on April 8.
