Drop it Low With the Fresh-Faced Vans Super Lowpro

Even though rich legacy is well documented, there’s still plenty that flies under the radar because they have a Herculean archive that dates back to the late 60s. The Serio line was the 1982 brain child of Co-Founder Paul Van Doren, offering US-made footwear that connected the brand to the wider sports culture. To this day, Vans continue to pull inspiration from the conceptual design of the line and they paid explicit homage to Serio in 2020, with a collection of creps that exuded period correct energy. Now, the So-Cal brand has injected the same high intensity sport-inspired energy of the Competition Shoe Style 84 into the Super Lowpro, with the new model taking on a low profile design, T-toe, zig-zag eyestays and EVA foam outsole.
‘For inspiration we dug deep into the Vans archives and discovered the Serio collection, our vintage runner from the 80s,’ says Angela Ardila Coutts, head of design, advanced concepts at Vans. ‘We were empowered to reinterpret the silhouette, so we set out to craft a low profile sneaker paying homage to Vans’ heritage while connecting with today’s trendsetting catalysts.’
Following the , the Vans Super Lowpro is available now in ‘Racing Red’ and ‘Marshmallow’ as well as two additional colourways through the SoCal brand’s channels and select stockists. A cute 'Sepia Rose' colourway will follow on April 1.
