WTAPS Revisit the Vans Vault for Their 25th Anniversary

Foundational Japanese streetwear brand WTAPS are belatedly celebrating their 25th anniversary from 2021 this year. As one of the the progenitors of the ‘Urahara’ style movement, the brand has gained plenty of collaborative clout and a waiting list of companies wanting to work with them. For this momentous occasion, they’re continuing their long partnership with Vans and are preparing an imminent release.

This latest colab consists of the Sk8-Hi and Authentic models recreated under the premium Vans Vault category. Both are monochromatic olive drab colourways, which plays into WTAPS’ consistent military aesthetic and influences. While the palette is tonal, the texture is anything but, as different fabrics have been used on each panel of the shoes. The colab is finished with WTAPS text logos and coordinates in a repeating print along the midsole tape.

There will also be a collaborative skateboard deck to coincide with these shoes – the first time WTAPS have done a deck with Vans. Only 200 individually numbered units have been made.

The WTAPS x Vans Vault collaboration will be available on February 11 from the WTAPS web store and the brand’s HOODS retail doors in Japan. However, keep some fingers crossed for an international release later on, as it tends to be with these colabs.
