For Australians, few sneakers hold as much nostalgia as those created by – the classic canvas footwear brand that has been around since 1939. Their legendary heritage Volley model has been on the feet of many for longer than any of the bigger shoe dogs around, and while it’s come in and out of trends in the land Down Under, there were periods where it was hard to go anywhere without spotting a pair. There’s been copycats over the years, but none have been able to match the pop cultural clout of these legends and the next chapter has just arrived via the fresh-faced Baseline.

Volley’s roots lie in tennis and they have plenty of high-profile co-signs on their roster, including tennis greats and Margaret Court, both of whom have stadiums named after them in Melbourne. The Baseline harks back to this court heritage with the name referring to the line where players serve. The model oozes with nostalgic touches yet boasts a streamlined modernised build for lifestyle wear. Two variants have just touched down, one in leather and another in throwback canvas, and they're perfect for your summertime beater.

Kicking things off is the classic black variation, which comes kitted in a soft leather upper that's bolstered with contrasting midsoles. Accompanying this build is the suede overlays and white ‘V’ for the side and heel branding. Next up are two canvas-clad colourways, with the first hosting a multi-tone build that throws it back to the OG Volley. The bottom has been affixed with a gum outsole, while creamy canvas and grey suede complement the green pops. Finally, the third pair hosts a simple yet effective two-tone, choosing a stark canvas base with added off-white overlays.

Volley’s Baseline model is the latest and greatest addition to the storied brand’s long legacy. Nostalgic details mixed with an elegant build has poised the brand for a comeback in 2024. You can cop all three colourways right now at the link below.
