Update February 18, 2022: Wales Bonner and adidas have released a slew of campaign imagery of their recent collaborative footwear capsule! All pairs can be copped now from retailers such as Up There.
UK-based fashion label have forged a stable relationship with over the past few years, and their creations are a far cry from the modern-day clout-reliant colabs of 2021. With every collection, they inject the identities of both brands, steadily selling their products to a niche of -savvy customers.
Back at it again for Autumn/Winter 2021, Wales Bonner have looked to the 1980s for inspiration and reimagined the adidas in two unique forms spanning four different colourways.
The first two remind us of their colab from 2020, exuding a similar autumnal vibe with the use of browns and contrast knit-like patterns. The ‘Hazy Yellow’ is the standout, it wears a durable nylon base, with darker-hued suede overlays and 80s-style shiny brown leather. A second colourway of the same build will also be releasing, choosing a white-on-white look with hints of brown. The whole shoe has been composed using leather including wide perforations along the forefoot and delicate suede touches. Both feature tasteful Wales Bonner branding scripted next to the Three Stripes and knit details on the heel akin to their previous endeavours. Curiously, the tongue looks to be made of a plush woven fabric.
A sleeker and much more luxurious look was given to the last two colourways of the drop. Opting to move away from the Samba-esque tooling, they instead went for a retro vibe with circular side panels. The first combo consists of ‘Dark Marine’ with full-nylon layer and leather branding. The second prefers a tasteful light brown and maroon with suede build and leather accents.
The Wales Bonner x adidas Autumn/Winter 2021 collection also includes a slew of apparel, and will be available on November 16 via select retailers such as END.
