99X series has its 40th anniversary right around the corner, a new model (the 990v6) set to arrive soon and recent colabs with and under its belt. Yes, there's a lot going on in the world of 99X, but there's always room for a classic, so NB have brought back the in a near-identical replica of its original colourway.
First released in 2012 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 99X series, the 990v3 features high-quality nubuck, leather and mesh uppers, all atop ENCAP and ABZORB-cushioned midsoles. What differentiated it from its predecessors was a more stripped-back build that saved weight, and a pop of flair thanks to a red and black logo hit on its tongue that nods to its made in the USA construction. It was followed up by the in 2016 and the in 2019, with the above-mentioned 990v6 likely dropping in 2022.
