Air Jordan 23
With such a significant number up for grabs, it’s no surprise the highly anticipated Air Jordan 23 was entrusted to Tinker. Energised by the idea of fusing Mike’s DNA into the shoe, Tinker went to work designing outsoles that resembled MJ’s thumbprint and hand-stitching his initials on the upper. Tech-wise, the new Articulated Propulsion Technology – a fusion of Zoom Air and IPS – took care of business underfoot, while a new TPU chassis held the 3D-stitched upper in place. The new Nike Considered design concept used production processes aimed at minimising waste, providing a sustainable template for the AJ23 that would also guide Jordan Brand into the future. The Air Jordan 23 was a showcase of advanced construction techniques and innovative technology, and the design still holds up today as one of the most legit models since Mike’s retirement. Nike’s strategy of dropping 23 pairs of the ‘Titanium’ edition in their top 23 doors for $230 was the icing on this landmark cake.
