Chuck Taylor
Charles ‘Chuck’ Taylor was born June 24, 1901. An American semi-pro basketball player and legendary shoe salesman, Chuck is best known for some design mods he added to Converse’s ‘Non-Skid’ basketball sneaker. With his name added to the ankle patch, the model was rechristened the Chuck Taylor All Star in 1922. Loved by tweens, golden oldies, retro rockers, street ballers and Danny Zuko alike, the humble canvas high-top is officially the first celebrity-endorsed athletic shoe. It is also – by some distance – the highest-selling sneaker of all time!
