Since its inception from the genius mind of Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 has been a staple for sneakerheads since 1989. In recent years, the AJ 4 is arguably hotter than the Air Jordan 1 at the moment and that's saying a lot. While the Jumpman continue to drop new and OG colourways, there are some that most of us will never get to have in our collection.

We've gathered a list of the All-Time Greatest Air Jordan 4 PEs, from colleges to MJ himself getting blessed with exclusive AJ 4s.

Check out all of our picks below and stay tuned for more All-Time Greatest entries as we continue to tackle the classics.

Air Jordan 4 'Oregon Duckman PE'

There are some major perks of being an Oregon Duck, thanks to Nike co-founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight being coach and student-athlete respectively for the Track and Field team. Knight’s ties and donations have made the school an attractive one for prospective student-athletes and the Ducks get spoiled with PEs across the board.

The Jumpman is pretty sacred for Jordan Brand but this PE features The Duck (His name isn’t Puddles) getting his MJ on and placed on the heel, replacing the Nike Air/Jumpman branding typically seen. Colourblocking is familar as this PE takes from the AJ4 'Fire Red' with Oregon's green and yellow accenting the sneaker with the Oregon O replacing the Jumpman on the tongue tag.

While the Ducks aren't a Jordan Brand school, they've gotten their fair share of Air Jordan PEs, taking on Js like the AJ3, AJ5, and AJ8 just to name a few.

Aleali May x Air Jordan 4 'Veterans Day PE'

Aleali May and Jordan Brand have established a fruitful collaborative partnership since linking up for the first time in 2017 on an Air Jordan 1. Since then, the Jumpman and May have teamed up on another AJ1, an AJ6, the AJ1 Zoom CMFT, and AJ14 Low.

Aleali and the Jumpman linked up on an Air Jordan 4 that’s dedicated to her father for Veteran’s Day. An Army veteran, Aleali dressed the ripstop upper in a desert battle camouflage, similar to the uniform her father wore during Desert Storm. A removable velcro patch featuring a compass replaces the Jumpman on the tongue with this sneaker only given to Aleali’s friends and family in 2021.

Air Jordan 4 ‘UNC PE’

Speaking of alma maters, it doesn’t hurt to be the school Michael Jordan attended. When it comes to Jordan PEs, it doesn’t get any better than being a Tar Heel.

The PE blessings are bountiful in Chapel Hill with UNC getting multiple iterations of an Air Jordan 4 PE, most recently in 2019. The one from 2013 takes the cake in our eyes.

The Tar Heels and their signature argyle stripe have been a staple for Carolina basketball since the early 90s, eventually permeating to the gridiron and the UNC Football pants and helmets. The signature argyle pattern accents the sneaker on the midsole, heel, and liner. Carolina Blue nubuck is used on the upper with navy accents as the secondary Tar Heel logo is used on the tongue tag.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Carmelo USA PE’

Carmelo Anthony has a few monikers throughout his Hall of Fame career with 'Olympic Melo' being one of, if not the most famous. Carmelo's tenure on the USA Olympic team is arguably the greatest of all time, with 3 gold medals under his belt and the all-time leading scorer for Team USA.

So it's only right that Melo got an Air Jordan 4 PE, even with his long-standing signature line with the Jumpman. Dressed in a mismatched form, using navy accents on the right shoe and red on the left, gold accenting is used throughout as a homage to his Olympic career with the mismatched theme continuing on the midsole and outsole.

'Olympic Melo' rightfully gets the PE he deserves from the Jumpman.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Michael Jordan PE’

While the Jumpman bless schools and their roster PEs on a consistent basis, you can't forget about the man who started it all. Even Mike gets in on the PE action sometimes. Made for his birthday, the Jordan Brand team gifted Michael Jordan a special PE of the AJ 4.

Nike and Jordan Brand were having a lot of fun with laser etching at the time and the AJ4 has had a few 'Laser' colourways hit store shelves featuring the silhouettes of every Air Jordan at the time.

Got to give Mike the best of the best for his birthday and his AJ4 PE features premium tan leather with Air Jordans laser etched throughout. Black nubuck wings and TPU heeltab accents the sneaker makes it special as black wings and heeltab are used to accent the sneaker.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Georgetown PE’

The last university on the list goes to Georgetown. Georgetown colourways on Air Jordans aren’t anything new, but PEs are fewer and far between, to say the least. Joining the Jordan Brand family in the 2000s, the Jumpman blessed the Hoyas with an AJ 4 PE in 2013, using similar colour blocking to the UNC PE mentioned earlier.

Instead of the UNC argyle, the Georgetown PE features their signature Kente cloth print, famously used during the mid-90s when Allen Iverson played for the late Hall of Famer coach, John Thompson. The nubuck upper is seen in slate blue with the Hoyas logo appearing on the tongue tag. The Kente cloth print is seen on the liner, heeltab, and midsole, perfectly accenting the upper.

If you somehow end up with a pair, make sure to keep it away from Jack the Bulldog.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Ray Allen PE’

Being one of the OG members of the Jordan Brand family, Ray Allen has been rocking Jordan PEs since they were first introduced in 1999. From the Air Jordan 6 all the way up to the Air Jordan 28, Jordan Brand have kept Ray's feet aflame with all these PEs throughout his career.

The silky-smooth shooter has had a few of his PEs making it to retail, most notably the Air Jordan 13 and Air Jordan 7, this Air Jordan 4 PE is an exclusive to Jesus Shuttlesworth.

The special box features the colours of every team Allen has played for with his name adorned on the side, as a clean white AJ4 with green and gold accents are an homage to his time as a Boston Celtic.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Manny Machado PE’

Jordan Brand’s baseball roster has expanded exponentially since starting out with Derek Jeter in 1999 and San Diego Padres 3rd baseman Manny Machado has been getting PEs since his Baltimore Orioles days in 2014.

Machado has one of the best PE collections in baseball and this AJ4 PE celebrates his Golden Glove award (racked up another in 2015) from the Jumpman. The biggest difference outside of the outsole with this baseball PE is the lack of visible Air in the AJ4, which is just encapsulated, as white lining and laces bring contrast to the borderline gaudy PE. With a cleat this flashy, you got to have the game to back it up, and Manny’s bat and glove does all the talking.
