Anthony Edwards and the USA claimed yet another gold medal before the curtain dropped in Paris over the weekend, with Team USA men’s basketball securing their fifth consecutive gold medal by beating the French team 98-87. Minnesota Timberwolf Anthony Edwards was of course an instrumental part of their Olympic campaign, as the livewire guard averaged 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals. No doubt boasting one of the most popular signature sneakers in the squad, Edwards has been giving sneakerheads plenty to gush over throughout Team USA’s campaign, including brand new patriotic editions of the adidas AE 1.

To celebrate Anthony Edwards’s big win in Paris, adidas crafted a very special pair of gold medal AEs for the occasion, and the regal rendition was somewhat reminiscent of LeBron James's gold medal-inspired colourway of the Nike LeBron 22 PE. Remixed in gold and black, the colourway was gifted to Edwards as part of adi’s campaign to celebrate their young talent, and the 1-of-1 design housed in a special gold briefcase. Featuring gold hues across the model’s uppers, including the distinctive honeycomb lattice pattern, the AE 1 features a stark black contrast. Originally debuting in late 2023, the adidas AE 1 has taken the sneaker world by storm. Appearing in multiple colourways, the design utilises BOOST and Lightstrike midsoles for support.
