Athletes Sprint to Victory in the Adizero Adios Pro Evo Series at London Marathon
adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 has been causing a stir on the marathon circuit since it touched down in 2023, and now its newest evolution, the Pro Evo 2, is matching the energy. Officially revealed late last week after a podium 2-3 in Boston, the Pro Evo 2 has now seen its first win in London, while its predecessor took home another world record.
Tigst Assefa, who won in Berlin in 2023 wearing the Pro Evo 1, sailed to victory with a women’s only world record time of 2.15.50 in the same shoe. Kenya's Sebastian Sawe won the men’s race in the Pro Evo 2, where he finished in 2:2:27. Alexander Mutiso Munyao, also from Kenya and wearing the Pro Evo 2, took third place. In total, the Adizero series took five of the 12 podium spots over the course of this year's London and Boston races.
The Adizero series has shattered 26 World Records since 2020. Earlier this week, 11 records were broken at the fifth edition of Adizero: Road to Records, held at Adidas' Herzo headquarters. Among those achievements, Agnes Ngetich made history by setting a new women’s only 10km world record, finishing in an incredible 29:27 while wearing the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1. The event also saw two under-20 world records, four continental records, and four national records fall, as 140 of the world’s top athletes came together for a day of record-shredding performances.
Elsewhere in running, these are the other super shoes to look out for this year.
