Jalen Brunson’s Latest Kobe 4 PE Is Straight Outta Villanova’s Trophy Case
New York Knicks cult hero Jalen Brunson has unveiled a special edition of the Nike Kobe 4 Protro dubbed ‘The Natty's’ PE, which honours his two NCAA championships with the Villanova Wildcats.
Timed in the lead up to March Madness, the Kobe 4 ‘The Natty’s’ PE features scaly black, Mamba-esque uppers with deep gold highlights on the sheath logo on the tongue and gradient Swoosh to symbolise the championship trophy awarded to the victorious team. Light blue accents hit the inner lining and translucent outsole, paying homage to Villanova’s signature colours.
Brunson’s time at Villanova (2015–2018) was nothing short of legendary. A two-time NCAA champion, he played a pivotal role in both title runs, helping the Wildcats establish themselves as a dominant force in college basketball. During his junior season, he averaged 18.9 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds, earning him National Player of the Year honours before declaring for the NBA Draft. His leadership, poise, and clutch performances made him a Villanova icon, and his No. 1 jersey remains synonymous with the Wildcats’ golden era.
Throughout his tenure in New York, Brunson has consistently turned to the Kobe line, lacing up player-exclusive colourways that reflect his deep connection to the Mamba legacy. Notably, during the 2025 All-Star Game, he was the sole player donning the black ‘Year Of The Mamba’ Kobe 5 Protro.
Brunson debuted these exclusive sneakers on February 26 during a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, where he dropped crucial buckets in the final moments to secure the win. This unique player edition is not slated for public release.
