Reebok performance hoops are back. For the first time in over a decade, the Boston-based brand has unveiled a new modern performance basketball silhouette. Led by the power pair of Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson, who share a genuine connection to both basketball and sneaker culture, Reebok are primed to stage a comeback. All is set to begin Spring 2025 with the release of the new Reebok Engine A.

Debuted this weekend by Reebok’s crown jewel, Angel Reese, the Engine A is the brand’s return to performance basketball. This new model was inspired by the 'Morbius' line from the 1990s, and will also utilise a TPU accent and 'sway bar' midsole design that references the 1980s ERS models. As a modern sneaker, it also packs plenty of new tech. Reebok are using the shoe as a launchpad to reintroduce its Energy Return System, which uses nitrogen-infused foam to absorb energy and propel the athlete.

Reebok’s SuperFloat foam will also be present in the design as well. The shiny silver 'exoskeleton' will allow for vibrant colour-blocking and is reminiscent of the Y2K style that has become increasingly popular over the past two years. It’s important to note that this is not an Angel Reese signature shoe. Signature or not, Reese, was the right choice to introduce the world to the new Reebok basketball.

Reebok’s resurgence have been picking up steam over the past year. Their first major play was the signing of O’Neal as President of Reebok Basketball and Iverson as Vice President of Basketball. This move marks the first time in Reebok’s history that such positions existed.

These newly minted positions are an important piece of the brand’s plan to re-enter the performance basketball market. Both Shaq and A.I. have successful pasts with Reebok as signature athletes. Shaq with the Shaqnosis and of course, A.I. with the legendary Question line. At the time of their signing, the brand announced that a key piece of Iverson's role would be, to 'drive player recruitment, grassroots and community-based initiatives, and athlete activations like the Iverson Classic.' The Angel Reese signing jumpstarted this campaign as she shares the LSU connect with Shaq and is in a tight race for WNBA rookie of the year.

While much like Reese, who as a rookie still has a lot to prove, Reebok are certainly positioning themselves to make a play in the market. Stay right here as more information fires up.
