Ask any gorpcore enthusiast and they’ll tell you that Japan is a haven for outdoor clothing and techwear, and while Tokyo plays host to the majority of the big sneaker stores, Salomon have branched out and opened up their first store in the Gansai region. Salomon Osaka Shinsaibashi opened on May 15, encompasses two floors and spans 149m2.

Over those two floors, the store is split into two different categories. The first floor houses Salomon’s technical products, spanning climbing, running (road and trail) and hiking, as well as a targeted accessory zone. The second floor is home to Salomon’s sportstyle products, though seating benches are made from resin-cast skis and snowboards as not to forget the brand’s heritage. Salomon have also said that customers can expect special installations that express Salomon's double-sided "performance" and "sports style" to be displayed on each floor.

Hailing from the French Alps, Salomon have continued to corner the sportstyle market over the past few years, transcending their mountainous heritage and touching down on the street thanks to solid GR styles like the XT-6 and XT-4, as well as cleverly planned collaborations with the likes of MM6 Maison Margiela, atmos and Hidden.NY. Salomon opened their first Japanese store in the Mori Park Outdoor Village in 2015, the same year the brand launched their sportstyle category. Their Tokyo store followed suit in 2020. Japan holds a longstanding significance within the sneaker scene – it's home to some of the world’s best sneaker stores, and also inspired some seriously sought-after regional exclusives.

Salomon's new store can be found at 542-0085 Osaka Prefecture, Chuo-ku, Osaka Prefectural District, Shinsaibashi 1 Chome 3-15.
