The Global GM of adidas Basketball Has Resigned After Nine Years
has announced his resignation from adidas, where he had worked for the past four years as the global GM of basketball. Before that, Wise had held positions with the Three Stripes including director of merchandising, category director of merchandising, senior director of product, and global vice president of product. During his tenure, he helped to sign Anthony Edwards in 2020 and managed the growth of that vital partnership, as well as the Fear of God Athletics line with Jerry Lorenzo. Wise also ‘relaunched’ adidas Basketball in 2023, which involved a major investment in the category and the award-winning ‘Remember The Why’ campaign.
In his LinkedIn post, Wise stated, ‘During my tenure, I’ve had the opportunity to touch multiple facets of the company from merchandising with retail partners, to helping grow the US Originals business and to leading global product teams. Each role I’ve held has shaped my recent position as General Manager of Adidas Global Basketball where I dedicated the last 4 years to ushering the brand and the category into a new era, while building a team that reflects the diversity of our consumers. While leading the basketball business, I am proud of our achievement - relaunching the category, expanding partnerships, establishing a strong presence in Los Angeles and achieving incredible sales gains on the business side.’
There’s no word yet on where Wise will be headed next, but he said in his post that he’s incredibly excited for his upcoming move: ‘More to come soon–but for now, just gratitude’.
