The Three Stripes’ running category has pretty much led the pack at this year’s running events, with the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 breaking records and clinching medals left, right and centre. That’s not really a surprise – the Adios Pro range has barely left the podiums since its launch in 2020. But the super shoe race is always pressing on, and with new innovations from competitors like On and Nike, there’s no time to stay static. While the newest addition to adidas’ running line, the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 isn’t quite as high-spec as the Pro Evo 1, it does take inspiration from it, and comes in at a much more affordable price point for those who want to beat their personal bests without breaking the bank.

That isn’t to say the Pro 4 isn’t packed with tech. The shoe weighs an average of 200g at men’s US 9.5, around 30g lighter than its predecessor, the Pro 3. Within that weight confinement, the shoe features new LightLock uppers for a supportive and snug fit, as well as reinforced LightTraxion outsoles for better protection against wear and tear underfoot. It also takes inspiration from the Pro Evo 1 with a more aggressive stance and rocker motion, which helps to improve running economy. The carbon energy rods in the shoe have also shifted position slightly to accommodate the new shape. Its shape has also been designed to accommodate a wider range of runners than the Pro Evo 1 – heel strikers want speedy shoes too!

Alongside the tech specs, the Adios Pro 4 also sees the range get a bit of a facelift, once again drawing from the elite model. Now, the Adizero racing models will feature thick Stripes to make them easy to spot within the pack.

It all sounds exciting, but any everyday runners waiting to get their hands on the Adizero Adios Pro 4 will have to wait until early January to get their hands on the model. In the meantime, we’ll be looking to see how they stack up in this weekend’s Berlin Marathon.
