The adidas AE 1 ‘Pure Ruby’ Pays Homage to the University of Georgia

Securing Anthony Edwards' all-important signature has proved one of adi’s most astute business decisions in recent years. The Timberwolves megastar and Olympic gold medallist boasts arguably the most popular sneaker in the league right now, the AE 1, which continues to roll out in fresh colourways for pro hoopers and sneakerheads alike.

The latest edition to arrive is a ‘Pure Ruby’ homage to his season at the University of Georgia. Composed in the Georgia Bulldogs’ signature combination of red and black, the AE 1 features all the futuristic hallmarks and contemporary design language that made the design resonate among hoopers. This includes the bold generative support wing, full-length TPU-encased Jet Boost technology and classic herringbone outsoles.

Edwards attended the University of Georgia from 2019 to 2020. He played for the Georgia Bulldogs, where he made an immediate impact, averaging 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. In one particular game, he scored 37 points against Michigan State, solidifying his potential as a top NBA prospect. Edwards was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and earned second-team All-SEC honours. After one season at Georgia, Edwards declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, where he was selected as the first overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
