With the world left reeling from the nollie 270 to nosebluntside that secured Yuto Horigome’s gold medal, Lucas Puig, professional French skateboarder, and adidas are treating the post-event hangover with a winning combination of the Three Stripes Samba and Puig’s own signature skate model.

The Samba has had a whirlwind past few years, spiralling to become the ‘it’ sneaker for almost everyone, from the terracewear trend to the clean girlies, but it’s had a place in the skate scene since the 90s thanks to its low-to-the-ground profile and functionality. This connection was acknowledged in 2023 when three-way collaborators, adidas, Palace Skateboards, and Lucas Puig, created the Samba Puig hybrid, which combined the Samba’s upper with the Puig’s signature sole. The creation maintained the iconic aesthetic of the Samba while ensuring it was equipped with the gear needed to drop in and out of k-grinds. While the latest of the release is a GR release, it still has the essential outsole grip pattern the Puig is characterised by, and it comes in one of the Samba’s most classic colourways of white leather, black tongue and Stripes, with a beige T-toe.

The adidas Samba Puig releases on August 1, so hit the link below to cop as soon as it drops and stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for more skateboarding news.
