Tennis has long sat at the periphery of Y-3’s collaborative archive. Across more than two decades with adidas, the collective have touched almost every major sports category – reworking football boots, performance runners and even basketball silhouettes with their unmistakable minimalist code. But the court has remained largely untouched... until now.

Fresh off a refined running collection, Y-3 shift their focus to tennis with a new drop anchored by two of adidas’ most technical silhouettes: the Barricade and the Ubersonic. It’s a quiet yet deliberate entry, marked not by over-design but by restraint: distressed branding, subdued palettes and carefully placed signature marks from Yohji Yamamoto.

The Ubersonic carries the stronger visual identity of the two. A refined off-white and black palette lays the groundwork, disrupted by distressed Three Stripes branding on the lateral side. Yamamoto’s handwritten signature appears at the heel counter, anchoring the design in the label’s familiar touch points. Functionally, the silhouette retains its high-speed DNA – lightweight, low-cut and built for sharp movement across the baseline.

The Barricade, meanwhile, leans further into tonal restraint. One pair mirrors the neutral palette of the Ubersonic, while a second version arrives in a mustard yellow and black – more assertive in colour, but subtle in execution.

You can grab the adidas Y-3 FW Tennis collection on August 15 directly from the Three Stripes webstore. Hit the link below on the day to cop!
