The Air Jordan 1 Cleat Gets the ‘Shattered Backboard’ Treatment
Jordan Brand have revealed the Mid Cleat will be hitting the turf on the same day as the Low. It's a win for linemen looking for max ankle support, stability and protection – because no one wants their talus in as many pieces as that dear, departed backboard.

In celebration of the iconic ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway's enduring legacy, Jordan Brand are taking the the scheme's influence from the hardwood to the turf with two new, cleated variations of the Air Jordan 1 – available in both Mid and Low editions.
These cleats translate the legendary orange‑black‑white palette from Jordan’s in Trieste, Italy, into performance-ready footwear. Built for gridiron grind, they feature padded mid-cut collars for dynamic ankle mobility, reinforced synthetic leather overlays for enhanced durability, and a Pebax plate with a nine-stud metal traction system. Designed for stop-and-go explosiveness, the wide stud placement ensures maximum grip across both natural and synthetic turf.
The cleat release follows closely on the heels of the upcoming Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Shattered Backboard’ drop on August 23, further cementing the colourway’s milestone 10th‑anniversary celebration and its legacy across both basketball and lifestyle collections.
It’s yet another power play from Jordan Brand – taking one of the most legendary colourways in sneaker history and strapping studs to it. The move speaks volumes: heritage heat isn’t just for hardwood anymore.
This also isn’t Jordan Brand’s only cleated drop of late. Earlier this year, they released High and Low versions of the ‘Patent Bred Toe’ cleats, featuring glossy patent-leather overlays on classic Chicago colour-blocking. They also previewed the ‘Royal Toe’ Low cleat – highlighted by patent leather on royal-blue toes and segmented spikes – slated for Summer 2025.
No official release details have surfaced yet, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
