Air Jordan Xxx Officially Revealed
UPDATE: Don't forget, MJ's 30th signature sneak is releasing this Friday, February 12th. Hit up your local Jordan Brand stockist for the plug on these high-tech kicks.
So, here we are – the big 3-0. That's thirty years and thirty signature shoes for His Airness. Back in 2008, Jordan Brand seemed set on capping the Air Jordan line once the XX3 rolled on by, so it's pretty astounding we've made it this far. Following a week of build-up from JB, the milestone release has been officially unveiled and dubbed the Air Jordan XXX. Not just an excuse to bust out the Roman numerals, the 'XXX' in the name is intended to symbolise the weave of a basketball net, although you still might want be careful with those Google searches, fam (safe search on!). The new silhouette has been created with an amalgamation of input from Jordan, together with famed Nike veterans Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith.
What you can expect from this new design is the pinnacle of performance technology. The upper has been constructed from a masterful blend of woven and printed materials for maximum lightweight support. An asymmetrical collar has been incorporated for greater lockdown stability. A stylised 'XXX' net graphic wraps around the heel, while the tongue tags feature the continents of America and Africa on left and right shoes respectively, in acknowledgement of MJ's African-American heritage. The midsole bears more than a passing resemblance to that of the the Air Jordan XX9 and with good reason – it's the exact same thing! Granted, the XX9 still boasts one of the premier sole units in the game, so it just goes to show that Jordan Brand really nailed it on last year's model. This time around however, the traction pattern on the outsole has been overhauled to majorly ramp up the grip. All in all, we can expect the AJXXX to be one of the greatest basketball shoes to grace the court.
The Air Jordan XXX will officially go on sale on February 12th in white/'Wolf Grey'. Stay tuned for more colourways to be revealed. Pics via Jordans Daily.
