Kyrie Irving debuted the follow up to his successful first signature sneaker with ANTA during NBA All-Star weekend, and now the Kai 2 has a release date set in stone. Most Kai 1 drops sold out fast and furious and ANTA is hoping to keep the momentum going with the Kai 2.

The design and attention to detail seen on the ANTA Kai 1 has transferred to the sequel, with the pairs tapping into more than just performance and getting in deep with the use of storytelling. On the Kai 1, the ‘11 Games’ colourway nodded to Kyrie's Duke days and the ‘Chief Hélà’ pair celebrated his Native American heritage. Now on the purple Kai 2 that was debuted, the 'Artist On Court’, Kyrie tells more of the story of who he is both off and on court.

On the performance side, the Kai 2 features some significant changes from the Kai 1. The soles use a similar traction pattern to that of the 1s and it is still a low-top sneaker, but the materials are upgraded with mainly leather uppers compared to the previous model’s mesh. It also includes intricate embroidered details and everything from the ANTA logo to the wavy patterned lines throughout boasts precision in craftsmanship, much like Kai’s game. The laces are the star of the show though, as they are furry and designed to symbolise a connection to nature.

ANTA has officially announced the release of the Kai 2 'Artist On Court’ on February 28 for $140, so head to the link below to register for a chance to cop.
