In 2025, ASICS have been dominating 'sphere headlines with back-to-back speedsters! In July, the Kobe-based crew hit us with the latest evolution of the KAYANO franchise, debuted the METASPEED Series and geared up for the Sydney Marathon with the NOVABLAST 5. For their next grand reveal, ASICS unleash the ‘TOKYO Collection’, which debuts two new heavy hitters – the SONICBLAST and MEGABLAST.
Both models are new additions to the ASICS running lineup, and bring in the fresh-faced FF TURBO SQUARED, a new midsole foam innovation. Wildly, following testing at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, they found that the new foam compound is 32.5 per cent bouncier than its predecessor. The MEGABLAST is kitted with a full-length juiced-up midsole of the new foam, and complementary light-weight, engineered mesh upper. The SONICBLAST is just as responsive, but is more skewed towards providing speed on shorter, faster runs, and is kitted with an ASTROPLATE.
On top of the SONICBLAST and MEGABLAST, ASICS are also dropping the NOVABLAST 5, GEL-KAYANO 32, GT-2000 14, GEL-NIMBUS 27 and GEL-CUMULUS 27. All seven of these heaters are decked in completely fresh colourways inspired by Tokyo – ASICS’ home turf.

The entire ASICS ‘TOKYO Collection’, including the SONICBLAST, MEGABLAST, NOVABLAST 5, GEL-KAYANO 32, GT-2000 14, GEL-NIMBUS 27 and GEL-CUMULUS 27, will land on September 1 via the brand’s usual channels.
