Prepare for BAPE and adidas' Dame 9
BAPE and adidas have confirmed their Dame 9 collaboration will launch on August 31.
Still a fan favourite among sneakerheads, the first link up between BAPE and Dame Lillard was back in 2018 with the BAPE x adidas Dame 4. A special-edition sneaker inspired by BAPE's signature design elements, the collaboration arrived in two colourways, ‘Green Camo’ and ‘Black Camo’. Replete with iconic BAPE graphics like the shark face graphics on the midsoles and 'WGM’ callouts (an abbreviation for ‘World Gone Mad’, a popular BAPE slogan) made the collaboration a must-cop for fans of both Lillard and BAPE.
Half a dozen years later, it looks like BAPE are once again linking up with the Lillard camp, this time for the adidas Dame 9. Shared by industry insider @brandon1an, the leaks reveal two colourways, with a third reportedly also on the way. In terms of visuals, the collaboration once again leverages BAPE’s legendary design vernacular, with the iconic ABC camo printed on the uppers –this time in red and green colourways. BAPE branding and the signature 'Ape Head' logo are also stamped on the heels.
For its part, the adidas Dame 9 debuted over the All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis in 2024. Featuring a snug fit, internal bootie with full-length Torsion bar and ultra-lightweight Lightstrike midsole underfoot, the streamlined model is emblematic of adi’s recent shift in their contemporary performance catalogue.
