For a company that got their start in ballet shoes, Brooks have made quite the name for themselves in the running sphere. The Seattle-based brand made waves with their 1970s innovations, introducing the running world to EVA foam, and later, their Diagonal Rollbar. Over the years they developed key franchises in both the road and trail-running world, with the latter discipline forming the basis of their next colab, as Brooks hand the Cascadia 18 over to Extra Butter.

Now an NYC institution may not be the most obvious choice for a trail running colab, but the energy and vibrancy of the city translate perfectly to the colab’s colour palette. Arriving in a ‘Splash Motion’ make-up, the Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 comes peppered with Hi-Vis neon-yellow accents on the tongue and outsole, which contrast with the concrete-grey uppers that prep the shoe for the gritty city. An aquatic-blue mudguard wraps its way around the forefoot and a lighter blue shade hits the Brooks logo at the sidewalls. Paired with green laces and a marbled outsole pattern, these hues evoke the diverse and contrasting landscapes of Central Park.

Technically speaking, the Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 doesn’t compromise on its trail running heritage. The neutral runner comes packed with Brooks’ soft DNA LOFT v2 cushioning and is equipped with the brand’s Trail Adapt System, meaning it’ll pound pavements just as comfortably as it’ll tackle trails.

The Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 will drop via Extra Butter on August 16, with a release to follow at Brooks on August 18. Hit the links below to get yours.
